Amy Diamond

Biography

Amy Diamond was born April 15, 1992 in Norrk�ping, Sweden. She is the second of four girls, and her father Lee is English and mother Chrisbeth is Swedish. After Amy's birth, they moved to Hertfordshire in the east of England. When Amy was four years old, they moved back to Sweden in a city called J�nk�ping where they still live. Amy also got two younger sisters, Lisa and Holly, aswell as her older sister Danielle.

When Amy was six years old she started figure skating which she was really talented at. She won several gold medals and practiced six times a week.
As a child, Amy also had a small role on the TV-show "De drabbade".

Amy's first singing/stage appearance was at age 7, when she competed in "Sm�stj�rnorna" (Little stars). She lip synced to Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a place on earth" and finished 3rd.
A few years after that, she competed in a talent contest for children called "Super Troupers". She won the semi final that she competed in, and finished 3rd in the big final.

In 2004, Amy competed in a talent contest called "Mix Megapol Summer Idol", where the first prize was to record a cd in a real studio. She did not only win the contest, but in the jury of that contest was a person from the record company Bonnier Amigo, who later offered Amy her record deal.

A little while after that contest, Amy recorded her first single "What's in it for me". Two days had been reserved for recording, but the single was finished in less than one hour and was released February 16th 2005, when Amy was just 12 years old.

Her first single was a huge success and reached number one on the single charts, and later sold platinum.
Because of the huge success with "What's in it for me", an album was recorded called "This is me now". It was released in May 2005, and sold more than 100 000 copies.
At the end of 2005, Amy had appeared on more than 20 television shows and a concert tour had been organized during the summer.

To promote Amy's album internationally, Amy signed a deal with Warner music in July 2005. In just a short while, she was extreamly popular in other Nordic countries aswell as Poland and Germany. A special edition for the album was created for the European market.

Three more singles from her debut album was later released, "Welcome to the city", "Champion" and "Shooting star".

In 2005, Amy was also nominated for multipe awards. As the youngest person in the history she received the Nordic Music awards for Best nordic hit for "What's in it for me". She also won two NRJ radio awards and she was also the youngest to be nominated for the Swedish Grammy awards. She won a Grammy for the Best Swedish Female Artist, Song of the year and Newcomer of the year. She also won a Nickelodeon Kids choice award for Hit of the year, and was nominated for Rockbj�rnen.

Amy's second album was recorded in February 2006, which took four weeks. The album, "Still me, still now" was then released in May. A couple of weeks before that, the first single "Don't cry your heart out" was released.
The second album was also a massive success, and it reached gold status two days before the release date!

In the summer of 2006, Amy was a part of the Diggiloo tour all over Sweden. She became very well known for her amazing version of Edith Piad's French song "Je ne regrette rien".
Later that summer, two other singles from the album was released, "Big guns" and "It can only get better".
In 2006 Amy also did print modeling for a mail-order catalogue for Ellos aswell as promotional work for Statoil and Stadium. In December the same year, she also showed off her acting and figure skaing talents as an ice princess in the Swedish Christmas Calendar.

In the end of 2007, Amy started recording her third album which is known as "Music in motion". The first single was released in late September, and the name was "Is it love?".
The album was released in November 2007, aswell as the single "Stay my baby".

In the beginning of 2008, Amy appeared in the first selection to the Swedish selection for the Eurovision song contest. She competed with her song "Thank you", and made it straight to the final in Globen. Amy is known for keeping her private life separated from her career. She has not revealed her real surname (which is not Diamond).
Amy goes to school like everyone other teenager in Sweden and does most of her career work on the weekends. She's often seen doing homeworks when she's out doing promotional work or after concerts. She is currently studying in her hometown J�nk�ping and she'll become a hairdresser.

In the spring of 2008 Amy launched a silver necklace called Amy's Diamond by the company Tussilagosmycken.
She also recorded a new song "Connected" for a movie called "Barbie and the Diamond castle" in the summer. And she had the annual summer tour in Sweden.

In September Amy started to record her 4th album which was released in November 19th. The album contains 12 beautiful Christmas songs all in Swedish. It was Amy's first Christmas album as well as the first one she sang completely in Swedish. Some of the songs were new but there were also a few older classics on the album.

In the beginning of 2009 it became official that Amy would perform in the Eurovision song contest selections again, aka Melodifestivalen 2009. She had an upbeat disco song "It's my life" but she unfortunately didn't get to the final.
During the summer holidays Amy had a summertour in Sweden and she visited many cities and festivals like she's done every summer. Amy was also a part of the Diggiloo tour and performed in a couple of places taking the place of Linda Bengtzing.

In the spring Amy started preparing for her role as Alice in the musical "Alice in Wonderland" which premiered after Christmas in 2009. She read the original book and watched the movie before starting to rehearse. The rehearsals started in the autumn with the co-actor Roger Westberg in Stockholm, Maxim teatern. It was Amy's first theatre experience and she was very happy with getting the chance to play Alice.

In the autumn fans started to get a little excited when there were rumours of Amy's up-coming album. Amy had been working on the new album for over a year and finally recorded it in the late summer of 2009. Amy told that she had been working tight with the producer Robert Habolin and learned a lot from him about producing. The first single "Up" came out October 6th 2009 and the album "Swings and roundabouts" a few weeks later. The album sold gold after two months it'd been released.
Her autumn was busy as she also picked out a choir from her hometown and took part in a Swedish TV show "The battle of choirs" (K�rslaget). Amy's sister Lisa was also in the show and performed among the choir. In the competition Amy's choir was eliminated just before the final, it came 4th. The experience was amazing, however, and Amy was really satisfied with her choir's hard work!

In spring 2010 after finishing the musical, she had some new expreriences ahead of her. She started to record a childrens tv show called "Bulldog" in which she was the host of the show, for the first time in her life. The show was about dogs and giving a chance to children who cant have their own dog, to take care of one. Amy who loves dogs found the show perfect for her to host. Also, Amy had another new job in that spring. She started dubbing a movie called "Princess Lillifee" in which she was the voice of the princess. She was amazed by the work and the new world of it which was all new to her.

During summer 2010 she had the annual tour in Sweden, she even got to tour with a Swedish artist Nanne Gronvall in a few places. They both were celebrating their anniversary in the music business, Amy her 5th and Nanne her 25th.
The previous year had been exciting for Amy also at school where she had come to the point in her studies when she was skilled enough to cut and colour real customers hair. She worked in a salong in her hometown and for instance styled her sister Lisa.
